Comments: | Almost all the 28 sentences are using it to mean "typical" and "characteristic". I assume this is sense 1. |

Comments: | Sorry to reopen this but I think 4 senses is excessive. The kokugos and JEs have at most three (modern) senses; some only have two. I got "emotive conviction" from Makino and Tsutsui's Dictionary of Intermediate Japanese Grammar. It has a good entry on this expression. |

Comments: | I'll shut it down now. We have plenty of entries starting with particles, e.g. conjunctions starting with に. I find 頭にない a bit opaque. |

Comments: | I don't think "しか頭にない" can be considered an expression. しか is a particle and therefore goes with the preceding noun. As long as one understands the grammatical function of しか, working out the meaning of 〜しか頭にない shouldn't be too much of a challenge. |

|
Comments: | I can't help feeling that しか頭にない is a useful expression to have here. Both Tanaka examples for 頭にない are using しか頭にない, and 3 of the 4 in GG5 do. 頭にない in isolation doesn't mean much, and I'm not sure I'd interpret しか頭にない correctly if I came to it cold. |

|
Comments: | Without the しか, the meaning changes entirely. I don't think this should be an entry. It would probably cause a lot of confusion. |

Comments: | We have quite a few XXある entries. Some, e.g. 価値ある (n-grams 585076) are in GG5, etc. Since it's not clear which nouns can and can't take ある I think it's worth recording the more common ones. |
