It's irrelevent whether or not the definition is the same as what general public thinks. Terms of a niche within a niche are often misunderstood anyway. People who create (and consume) within a niche should determine the definition. Furthermore, There is another important difference. Lolicon is strictly sexual attracted to females, while pedophilia could be sexual attraction to both sexes, male or female. Lastly, you don't have to be male to be a lolicon, as there are popular (Japanese) female influencers calling themselfs a lolicon.

I don't mind it.

I asked a native speaker btw what they thought and they said (ことばとして)軽いじゃ軽いけど、ペドファイルじゃペドファイル。 I don't think they're actually considered two different things to most Japanese (outside of the otaku realm), but it might certainly be the case that there's a weaker connotation of "actual child molester" than there is for say ペドファイル.

  Comments:
I'll accept that pedophile/pedophilia are probably accurate glosses, but I note that the JEs avoid that term. I suspect that in Japan there is a view that lolicon and pedophilia are slightly different things, but if you look at the actual definition of pedophilia, they are really the same.
Is there a problem with including "sexual obsession with young girls" in the glosses?

I don't mind "attraction" over "obsession" or "prebubescent" over "young" but I'm not seeing the point of adding rare words like "gynephilic" to secondary glosses (as this meaning is already obvious from the second gloss). It's true a woman could flippantly call herself a "lolicon" despite not being a man but that's true for a lot of gendered language/words and without qualifiers, I don't think anybody would ever assume this word refers to anything but a man.

sexual obsession doesn't make much sense, kokugos tend to use 性愛の対象 which is closer to sexual attraction
using "young girls" (or "very young girls" by gg5) seems pretty euphemistic, kokugos do use 少女 which is ambiguous but nobody would use ロリコン for someone attracted to a 17yo girl. + they often do add 幼女 to be more clear, so prepubescent is a better rendering in my opinion.
"gynephilic" (or a synonym) is needed because "pedophile" alone implies that ロリコン could be someone sexually attracted to prepubescent boys as well which is not the case.
i guess "esp. male" is the most controversial change. i think this image of ロリコン is due to the male-dominated otaku culture (and most pedophiles being male). it's fair to include it, but it doesn't seem *necessary* to be a ロリコン which is probably why many kokugos don't mention it all.

  Comments:
Given the extensive discussion last year about edits to this entry, I think case should be made for these proposed changes. Justification for the inclusion of gynephilic is needed.

Naginatajutsu refers to the old-school martial art, different to and separate from the modern sport of naginata.

To quote from the top of Japanese Wikipedia's article (above and before the actual article itself) on naginata (the weapon ...with a similar headnotes for the pages mentioned):
この項目では、武器としての薙刀について説明しています。
現代武道の薙刀については「なぎなた」をご覧ください。
古武道の薙刀については「薙刀術」をご覧ください。

Whilst I agree that the most "typical"/"normal" なた is superficially somewhat similar to a cleaver (though not nearly as broad), a fundamental defining characteristic of a cleaver is still that it is a butcher/kitchen knife. (and again, the many significant differences I mentioned before)
There are many knives that a layman wouldn't be able to tell apart, just to look at them, that are nevertheless in very distinct and different categories. (the same applies to, e.g., axes)

...and many なた do not have that distinctive rectangular shape, as is clear from the references I mention. Note that 剣鉈 and 鉈鎌 are types of 鉈.

  Comments:
A cleaver is a butcher/kitchen knife.
It has a completely different purpose and also possess very different blades, to a nata. A lot broader blade (a lot broader than the handle, notably) and though they are relatively thick and sturdy, they are significantly less so, than a nata. A lot of typical uses of a nata (especially splitting wood), would utterly ruin any cleaver.
The closest thing to a nata, would be a machete or a hunting knife. (and ken'nata do look like the latter, as well as being used as such, in addition to its other uses)
It is neither, however, so it would be wrong to call it such.

The angle is notable (though not universal/required), but I guess it's not really necessary to mention.
Also the blade is often of uniform breadth (basically a rectangle) aside from ken'nata (剣鉈), which have a more typical knife shape as well as usually being straight, but the same applies to that, so no need to mention it either, I suppose.
Speaking of which: Adding an entry for 剣鉈 may be a good idea.

Fascine knives can be very different, to natagama/billhooks (and "sickle-shaped tool with a sharp inner edge", is just a description of a billhook. I.e. it is a repetition of "billhook". No need to state it twice)
Also, it is, in no way, like an axe.

Jim, I'm OK with "yellow monkey" not

do things and "yellow monkey" still works
in English, esp. with "Asian" or something
as a second gloss.

I have doubts about "unprocessed" and "untreated" as suitable glosses for 無調整, for the following reasons: 1. soymilk is by nature a "processed" or "treated" food (it does not simply flow naturally out of the soybean into the bottle); 2. there exists a specific definition of "無調整豆乳" that mentions additives (see the reference link) - would "pure soy milk; soy milk without additives" be a suitable gloss?

I don't think these glosses work because there's no mention of the "爆発" part. "Bursting into flames" doesn't usually imply an explosion.
I question if we need this entry at all. It literally means "exploding and going up in flames" and I note that it's often written as "爆発・炎上" (see examples above).
