	Comments:	i'll be honest. i really dislike entries like this. parenthesized versions like （笑）and （ｗ are not words. they're not much different from emoji. IMO, they shouldn't be headwords any more than ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ should be. one of the original references (hatena) seems to suggest that the reading for ｗ is simply ダブル, in which case this doesn't need to be its own entry; LOL should simply be added as a slang meaning in the entry for ｗ[ダブル] wikipedia lists every single possible reading as being valid for（笑）and presumably that also goes for 笑 (without the parentheses). plus, wikipedia says one way of writing わら is with the ateji 草. figuring out what 草[わら] means in a text message (etc.) without context would be tricky. but if you can't figure out what（笑）means from the meaning of 笑 then you have larger problems. i added 笑 to the entry for わらい as io. i suggest that: 1) 笑 is now an unneeded headword because it is now searchable and the "LOL" meaning is obvious from 笑[わらい] 2) （笑）and （ｗ are inappropriate headwords and should not be recorded 3) ｗ should be handled as ダブル.

	Comments:	I'm sorry to keep this going, but I'm not really satisfied with this conclusion. I feel like we're just setting us up for repeating this argument again at a later stage, on a different entry. I don't think anybody has explained how a "セックスシーン" and a "レイプシーン" differ, for starters. A "rape scene" is idiomatic in both English and Japanese and is a well-understood and often-commented on (in media, academia) concept/trope in movie making. レイプシーン is to me fundamentally different from 救急車のサイレン (16052) or 教会の屋根 (2927), not least evidenced by the fact that the most common way of phrasing those things in Japanese is as ～の～. (cf. レイプのシーン: 130,　レイプの場面: 58, 教会屋根: 90, 救急車サイレン: 130) It's also obvious somebody wouldn't refer to a "church roof" as a "church roof" except to distinguish it from other roofs. Normally, you'd refer to it as "the roof" (or "the siren") without qualification, unlike I think a rape scene. The difference between a レイプシーン and a 喫煙シーン is that a rape scene is a type or category of scene, while a 喫煙シーン is a scene where smoking happens to occur - it's not a specific type of scene or even the main purpose of the scene. "OK, let's add a tobacco-smoking scene here!" That said, considering how much 喫煙シーン's have been discussed in Japanese media, I'm not really sure I'd oppose its inclusion if somebody suggested it. As for 会話シーン (21543, cf. 会話のシーン: 6846), I don't know, the case for inclusion seems weaker than it is for レイプシーン, but I see it's in wadoku. I also disagree that it's "not likely" anyone will do an E->J lookup for "rape scene". What is there to base that assumption on? The dictionary files have all levels of users, from absolute beginners to native speakers. If somebody might look up "sex scene", they might as well look up "rape scene."

	Comments:	I think this discussion is important because we set precedents by accepting terms like this. I maintain that it's A+B, in the same way that "ambulance siren", "church roof" and "cupboard door" are A+B. They're all common, but being common is not by itself grounds for inclusion. There are plenty of other types of シーン that appear more frequently but I don't suppose anyone is going to suggest adding 喫煙シーン or 会話シーン. モブシーン appears to be a industry/technical term, which probably explains why daijs has chosen to include it over other more typical types of scene. I think it's safe to assume that no dictionary will ever add レイプシーン. When a term isn't found in the usual sources we should ask ourselves "would this be helpful?" I think the answer here is quite clearly "no". The lead glosses for レイプ and シーン are "rape" and "scene". No one will have any difficultly translating it. Nor is it likely that anyone is going to do an E->J lookup for "rape scene". I think セックスシーン was worth adding because it's nearly as common as ベッドシーン (or more common, if we go by Google hits). Submissions need to considered on a case-by-case basis, and in this case I just cannot see an argument for adding it.

When it comes to noun compounds, I think you have to look at how common they are. Do you think セックスシーン is A+B? What's the difference between it and レイプシーン? They're just as common in the ngrams (20313 vs 19588). If you believe both are A+B, fine, but what about スタントシーン (1.5k, in GG5), or モブシーン (4k, in daijs)? The argument can't always just be to blindly follow the other dictionaries because any of them could very well add レイプシーン just about tomorrow. A "rape scene" or a "sex scene" or an "action scene" is, to my mind, fundamentally different from a "red pillow", "yellow pillow" and a "blue pillow". Whether or not we should have things like "キスシーン", "ハグシーン" in the dictionary is not a question of whether we should let in noun+シーン compounds or not, but a question of if they're common enough to warrant it (in キスシーン's case (160k) - yes, in ハグシーン's case (900) - no). The other dictionaries help in establishing what's worth adding and what's not but they are far from the end-all.
