  Comments:
Adding そら to other entries would be messy as it doesn't seem to apply to all senses and would lead to restrictions.
The references are all over the place for それ, そら, etc. I'm inclined to leave it where it is.
18. A* 2022-08-09 12:30:20
  Comments:
Sorry for not making a better case.
I get "take that" from Daijr
それ [1] (感)
〔代名詞「それ」から〕
相手の注意を喚起したり指示したりするときに用いる語。そら。「―急げ」
but it might not be a good translation. THere is already a そら entry - maybe それ belongs as a reading there rather than as an additional meaning here?
However, that entry also has a meaning that is equivalent to それは - maybe that should be split out from there and merged with そりゃ?

i.e. as now, 3 entries, except

それ (this entry), as-is
それ、そら [int] "here!;there!
そりゃ;そら [exp] that is

I don't think it's correct to say there are two senses here.
"Slander", "libel", etc. are for the benefit of English learners who might be using そしり in more specific context.

I'm in favour of dropping the sense 2 glosses entirely.
I have a paper JE dictionary (designed for English speakers) on hand and "criticism", "censure" and "blame" are the only glosses listed. Same with prog.

Currently the kanji 過 has the kun-readings
 す.ぎる, -す.ぎる, -す.ぎ, す.ごす, あやま.つ, あやま.ち, よ.ぎる
I propose changing this to
 す.ぎる, す.ごす, あやま.ち, あやま.つ, よ.ぎる, よぎ.る
The readings -す.ぎる, -す.ぎ are redundant.
(I think dashes should be reserved for readings that only are used as prefixes or suffixes, e.g. 雨: あめ, あま-, -さめ)
In principle あやま.ち is redundant, but considering the n-grams (過ち 553735, 過つ 3284) I think あやま.ち is justified.
And よ.ぎる, よぎ.る are two distinct readings, both of them correct.

This is a major rewrite based on the 1.5 page entry in Makino & Tsutsui's "Dictionary of Intermediate Japanese Grammar". They make a good point about the mandatory negative predicate. See the 8 Tanaka examples (not yet indexed so search for sentences with に限って).

I agree it could be treated as an adj-pn as it's very uncommon conjugated, but I think the glosses might be more helpful when
glossed as a verb, looking at the examples on yourei.

I'm not sure it's entirely correct though, in light of the examples on yourei.
For example:

I don't think "everchanging" is the best fit in any of these. They're talking about how things were, and how they have now
changed into something else, e.g. one change, not how they are continually changing.

  Comments:
I'm not sure we should include this. All
the yourei examples are xxの名が廃る.
syntactically, this is (xの名)廃る, not (x
の)(名が廃る). We do have other such
entries in jmdict as it is but we've also
been moving to remove or change some of
them.

I'll try and add this as a new sense to 廃
る instead.

Seems correct. Remarkably common. Meaning not obvious.
