Refs: | 中辞典 has an entry for 百円 complete with translation. The text-glossing issue is that without having 百円 as an entry, text containing it will be matched with a longer compound, e.g. 百円玉. Although it gets flagged as a "Partial Match", it is still messy when it could be precise. It's why I don't like having ABC entries without having AB, unless AB never appears alone. |

3. | A* 2019-05-21 09:50:42 Marcus Richert <...address hidden...>
Comments: | Are they really all that useful for text glossing? 百円 is an entry in GG5 but it doesn't have a definition and seems like it's only there to allow for subentries like 100円玉, 100円ショップ. 10円、1000円、1万円 are not entries. I don't think we need any of these. (but I think 100円玉, 1000円札 etc. are meaningful to have) |

Comments: | I have to agree. There are several usually-in-kana なりs, and unless someone is on top of the pronoun+なり pattern it can be misleading Apropos of text glossing, WWWJDIC's current approach makes a hash of the 私なり pattern because it defaults to the particle なり. The experimental version which preprocesses using MeCab at least picks up the right one although the actual translation gets a bit lost because of the breadth of entries with 形 as a surface form. I'm leaving this open for a bit as I want to address some other pronoun+なり patterns and there is some sentence indexing to be fixed. |
|
4. | A* 2019-05-23 23:17:36 Nicolas Maia
Comments: | I find it useful for text glossing. なり has many disparate meanings, and if you don't know beforehand that it means "way; peculiar to" when placed after a pronoun, it can be hard to piece A with B. |
