The kanji 引 has the readings ひ.く, ひ.き, ひ.き-, -び.き, ひ.ける
I propose
   ひ.く, ひ.ける
or
   ひ.く, ひ.ける, ひき
instead.
--
There is no need for ひ.き. The word 引き is just the masu-stem of 引く, not a noun in its own right.
(Unlike say 匂: にお.う, にお.い)
Obviously no need for ひ.き-.
No need for -び.き ether. We normally don't include rendaku as separate readings.
----
One could make a case for ひき (as in 取引) as a separate reading.
On the other hand, it is quite common to omit okurigana on masu-stems in compound words.
I'd be happy to go either way here.

I agree. As 曳く, 牽く and 抽く are rare, I don't think it's worth splitting them out either.
16. A* 2023-12-10 02:58:40  Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
The 引く/ひく extended family is always a bit of a problem as no two references agree on either the range of possible surface forms or the division of the senses. 明鏡 has just 引く, Nikkoku has 9 possible forms, and others are somewhere in between. GG5 has a solo 引く entry (11 senses) and a 引く/退く entry with 4 senses. We separate 退く, 惹く and 弾く into their own entries with mutual xrefs.
I find this proposed amendment by アノンさん a bit messy, with its restrictions on all 19 senses. I'm not convinced the restrictions are really needed but I think a better solution would be to move 曳く, 牽く and 抽く to their own entries with mutual xrefs (as with the other 3 forms) and cut back the restrictions.

Request to add "fall back" / "retreat"

Just saw やり合う時間はねえぜ。ひくぞ translated as "we don't have time to fight. let's retreat" before jumping out of a window in a 2-on-2 confrontation.

Either this sense is independent of [17], or it would seem that "retreat"/"fall back" should be added to it, and possibly to the matching standalone entry for 退く. Note the Japanese kenkyuusha ref specifically identifies the sense as 後退する, for which we already have:
後退: retreat; falling back; moving backwards; reversing; backing up (of a vehicle); retrogression; retraction

None of "let's draw back" "let's recede" or "let's move back" could have functioned in this context, the last of those being almost-but-not-quite there.

The reading "心臓がとまる" was in the text which I was reading. It gets a good number of Google hits, but the main headword get over 4m hits. You have a range of odd entries which I have noted below, but the inclusion of the above would match in with all the other expressions in the main dictionary which start off with "心臓".

Q: 遅い時間に、「(もう)いい時間」と言いますが、ここでいう「いい」とはどのような意味なのでしょうか。
BA: 「ちょうどいい時間」といったニュアンスになる。
(I don't really agree with this answer)
Another answer:
"「もういい時間」とは、もう相当遅い時間、もうかなり遅い時間ということですね。

この場合の「いい」は、相当の程度である、かなりの程度であるという意味になるかと思います。"

sense 2: 今はのんびりするのにいい時間だね
https://sasazukan-cats.at.webry.info/201807/article_58.html

sense 2 is usually as ~するのにいい時間 etc. (and other various constructions). When it's by itself I
think it's usually sense 1.

(Thanks for correcting the typo, Nicolas)

One difference between ような感じ and みたい
な感じ is that みたいな感じ often stands by
itself, after a comma or a full stop,
while ような感じ always(?) attaches to the
preceeding phrase/word. みたいな感じ is a
phrase in itself. Also Jim recently
accepted ような気がする as an entry, which
isn't all that different from ような感じがす

Also, I think the literal translation conveys the meaning well enough. The glosses for 感じ are "feeling; sense; impression". みたいな感じ = "sort of impression".

I've been following the discussion, and I've come round to the view that it should go. I want to add a sentence using the pattern; probably "作り話やうわさなどでなく、本当にあった話" or similar, so I'll temporarily approve this and reopen to remind me to do it.

7. A* 2019-05-15 23:37:38  Robin Scott <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
I don't think we have many other entries that consist of an adverb and a verb. Yes, it's a common set phrase, but this one just feels too obvious to me.
I don't think Japanese learners of English should be a consideration here. JMdict is not designed for those people.
I'm not a fan of the reverse search argument because it can be used to justify adding almost anything. As a natural consequence of Japanese and English being very different languages, English has countless expressions and phrases that "someone reasonably proficient in Japanese" would struggle to translate. I've always thought that test should only apply to commonly used nouns.
---
Regarding "based on a true story", I don't think it ever works as a translation. 本当にあった describes the event or story itself rather than an adaptation of it.
