Comments: | I don't think this is ever actually written as 今日わ (outside of Nikk) and that the high ngrams number is just from misparsing. I suggest merging this with こんにちは (as nokanji). 今日わ could also be added to that entry as a sK. |

Comments: | Why wouldn't we count it's use in words that are already entries if we're talking about absolute usage? We have over 400 entries beginning with 小/こ. That alone makes it worthy of spec1, I think. If it's that productive, it also seems likely there's probably hundreds or thousands of similar words/constructions that aren't included in the dictionary. |

8. | A* 2019-04-26 17:49:25 Rene Malenfant <...address hidden...> | |
Comments: | not entirely sure i agree with this. despite it being called a 接頭 in most dictionaries, shinmeikai has it as 造語, and i feel like it is not particularly productive outside of words like 小皿 that we already have entries for. simply wanting something to "stand out" in comparison to other entries is not a valid reason for the tag, IMO. it should be about absolute frequency of usage. how often is this used as a productive suffix that could be added to entries that are not already in the dictionary? |

Comments: | The Weblio reference is to the 大辞林 entry for the old classical 二段 verb; the equivalent of the modern verb 色付く/いろづく. I suspect the song contains the potential form of 色付く which would be 色付ける (see https://www.edrdg.org/cgi-bin/wwwjdic/wwwjdic?1WŤ_v5k). We could add this old verb as an entry, but we'd need to indicate that it's also (and more commonly) the potential form of 色付く. |

Comments: | Then again when people come across this word in a text, it'll be used to refer to him when he was indeed the Crown Prince. Adding "former" is maybe a little confusing, as it could be read to imply the title itself is "former crown prince", which isn't too far-fetched, considering we have things like 上皇 glossed as "former emperor". Maybe it'd make more sense if we removed the birth date as well and just had this as "Crown Prince Naruhito"? (if xrefs were possible in jmnedict (are they?), it could then contain an xref to whichever the main Naruhito entry might be) |
