ユーモアの感覚
ユーモアのかんかく
1. [exp,n]
▶ sense of humor
▶ sense of humour

History:
6. D 2019-04-06 05:03:27  Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
OK. So it possibly/probably a case of dictionary compilers copying off each other without paying a lot of attention to whether it's a good translation.
5. D* 2019-04-06 01:09:33  Marcus Richert <...address hidden...>
  Refs:
I see it actually gets 1147 hits in the new ngrams (while ユーモアのセンス gets 37190, and 笑いの感覚 2281, 笑いのセンス 36400). I don't
think this is really analogous to "sense of humor" in English though. I conferred with a bilingual native speaker who thinks the
expression is weird, and couldn't really put her finger on what she'd translate it (into English) as. She said it might be closer to
"Impression/sensation of humor" and thought the eij examples were weird as well. Eijiro is after all an ei-wa dictionary first and
foremost and I think that somehow shows in how their Japanese can be odd translations of the original English (just like with the Tanaka
corpus)
4. D* 2019-04-06 00:20:06  Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
  Refs:
Eijiro: とても悲しいユーモアの感覚 : black sense of humor [humour]
■ゆがんだユーモアの感覚 : twisted sense of humor [humour]
■生まれつきのユーモアの感覚 : innate sense of humor [humour]
GG5: 上質なユーモアの感覚 a fine sense of humor
4 Tanaka sentences
  Comments:
I guess I have to question how "questionable" this one is. If I have a problem with it, it's because it's a low-scoring AのB phrase; not because it's never used in Japanese.
FWIW ユーモアのセンス gets lots of Eijiro hits and is in one GG5 example and 16 Tanaka sentences. It should stay.

I don't think that works as an expl gloss. 現つ神 is the name itself rather than a word that means "honorific term for the emperor". There was discussion about this distinction on 1009120.
I suggest either putting the entry back to how it was or going with something like "emperor; [lit] living god".

daijr's definition of 目を通す is :
"一通り見る。ざっと見る。"

一通り見る	5718
ざっと見る	9284

both those expressions 1) are more common than "一応目を通す" 2) would be more helpful as entries as the adv actually significantly
affects the verb 3) should still in my opinion not be entries because they are simple adv+verb constructions where neither the adverb
or the verb behave differently from what you'd normally expect.
10. A* 2019-04-05 02:00:32  Marcus Richert <...address hidden...>

"to run one's eye over (e.g. to check if it's OK) " is an OK gloss for the "目を通す" entry itself, as are the other glosses, but 一応 has
