yeah, it's a noun, it's just hard to gloss as one in english.  in the same way that "regards" is a plural noun when you sign off a letter using it, but you're kind of using it as an expression

and we generally don't have single words marked as exp.

I'm wondering whether it was the right decision to change the PoS on this from n to exp. 拝啓 is still tagged as a noun; they should be aligned.
The kokugos consider them nouns, but that's the case with all "〜を表す語"-defined words, even though they're not used like regular nouns.
From a usage point of view, exp probably makes more sense, but maybe we want to stick with "n" just for consistency's sake.

I was taught "gaol" as the standard spelling, but I agree it's not a lot of use now. Having it in entries is harmless, but I won't go ballistic if it is culled. It gets less than 1/20th of the use of "jail". I agree with Rene that is should be on a couple of the standard nouns.

i'm not british so i'm not sure how common it is, but i'd say we'd be fine to remove it in pretty many cases, IMO.  i'd leave "gaol" as a gloss for 刑務所, etc. though

also, unless 破獄 refers to the action of hacking your phone, i wouldn't include "jail breaking" here either.  i don't think "jailbreak" in the sense of "breaking out of jail" is normally a verb

In response to Jim's comment that caulking is also used in metalworking: But can かしめる refer to caulking? Caulking involves inserting a (relatively) soft substance into a seam, while swaging involves squeezing or deforming a piece of metal. They are completely different processes. I checked through many pages of images of かしめる and did not see even one that looked like caulking. The e-dictionary definitions I have seen (along the lines of 接合部分にはめこまれた爪や金具を工具で打ったり締めたりして接合部を固くとめる。 「鳩目金具を－ ・ める」) (to the extent that I understand them!) apply to swaging only. From what I've seen so far, "caulking" looks like a complete miss for this word.

In response to Jim's comment that caulking is also used in metalworking: But can かしめる refer to caulking? Caulking involves inserting a (relatively) soft substance into a seam, while swaging involves squeezing or deforming a piece of metal. They are completely different processes. I checked through many pages of images of かしめる and did not see even one that looked like caulking. The e-dictionary definitions I have seen (along the lines of 接合部分にはめこまれた爪や金具を工具で打ったり締めたりして接合部を固くとめる。 「鳩目金具を－ ・ める」) (to the extent that I understand them!) apply to swaging only. From what I've seen so far, "caulking" looks like a complete miss for this word.

From what I'm seeing in WWW hits and images, 鍵形 & 鍵型 mean key-shaped; not hook-shaped. I know Daijirin and Kojien have 鍵形 for hook-shaped, but I suspect modern usage has changed.
Probably best to put 鍵形 & 鍵型 in their own entry. I'll propose it.

I think it should be included. Along with どころではない, it is common, in many examples, meaning not obvious,  etc. They could be combined, although it would be messy. Certainly, the glosses should be aligned - Nicolas used the ones from どころではない.
We already have それどころじゃない/etc. We don't need both. If this goes ahead I think それどころじゃない can be dropped.
