I think this is the best approach.

Given that いちば is always a physical market, and しじょう is usually "market" in the abstract sense, I think it's best to keep the entries separate and add a new sense here that points to いちば.

there's some limited evidence of this online, but i'd like to see a more 'officiial' reference for this.  no kokugo has this meaning, so i am wondering if it is simply [ik] or if perhaps they call it あさかい to make it sound a little less like a school assembly?

i'm adding the definition that is provided in all kokugos, and then i think that for now we should handle あさかい by adding it as [ik] to the ちょうかい entry

Interesting. I thought the term was reserved for groups produced by a Japanese (or Korean) talent agency.
I was going to say that a boy band like One Direction would never be described as an アイルドグループ　but I see that they often are (although they'd usually be called a ボーイズグループ).
One difference is that "アイドルグループ" doesn't include pop-rock boy bands that play instruments (e.g. the early-2000s UK band "Busted") but explaining that here is probably too much for a dictionary entry.
