Comments: | Those glosses weren't right. The 悪気 in the nikk definition is あっき, not わるぎ. Kanjigen redirects to 妖気. This is part of the reason I feel we're wasting our time with entries like this. Writing glosses is not a trivial task. Our efforts are better spent on words that people are actually going to see. Like 氛氳, this probably doesn't exist outside of kanbun. |

Comments: | resubmitting another of Nicholas's rejected entries the reason i started working on edict in the first place was because i was translating some akutagawa & soseki stuff and i could not find a japanese-english dictionary that had some of the old words i was finding. i was using kokugos to make my own list of translated words and then i discovered that i could share them by submitting to edict IMO, the archaic stuff is exactly where edict excels over GG5. so i would prefer to allow in archaic words so long as they are backed up by solid kokugo references and marked as [arch] |

Comments: | They certainly can be used as the basis for a good entry, however the one-line quotation coming up in the "JLPT Search Tool" doesn't tell the whole story. ようにして is, of course, an inflection of the clause "ようにする", which has a 3-page entry in the DBJG. We already have an entry for that (1013120) which covers the case pretty well. With ようにする already an entry, in what way does this proposed entry add anything useful? |

Comments: | gg5 has this translation also IMO it is pretty vague. presumably it suggests that it means something other than their ID number that is assigned by the school/university (although it is not really clear about that). like if you have a numbered attendance list for a particular class? or numbered assigned seats? i'm not sure why you would need to individually number the students in a single class where you can just learn all their names. |
