As in English, ウイング (and 翼) can have many applications & meanings. Either we try and spell them all out (and the Othello one would be well down the list), or we just leave it as "wing". I've extended it to see how it looks, but I'd be quite comfortable with just one sense.

I'm not 100% convinced it should be a separate entry. I think it's the same thing as バッグ/バック and ドッグ/ドック- in this
case, it happens to be an entry in daijr as being German-derived, OK, but the regular usage is probably just a
mispronunciation.

ただある種の女の子が私に感応し、その感応が私に伝わるだけなのよ。[Haruki Murakami]
"Certain kinds of girls, though, do respond to me, and I can feel it when that happens." [Jay Rubin's translation]
----------------

(1) I think "responsiveness" and "responding" can be added for cases like the Murakami sentence. Here are some other examples:
a) 大人は今の子供たちが感応する音楽が理解できない. Adults cannot understand the music children respond to nowadays. [GG5]
b) 感応度 (a degree of) sensitivity; responsiveness; responsivity; a response level. [KOD追加語彙]
c) 感応する 〈…にこたえる〉 respond 《to》; ... [新和英中辞典]

(2) inspiration
I don't think it's "inspiration" in the everyday sense of the word (as in "Helen had one of her flashes of inspiration" or "he is an inspiration to everyone").
GG5's definition says "〔霊感〕 inspiration", so I'd change "inspiration" to "divine inspiration".

(3) "divine response"
〈神仏が〉 hear 《our prayer》. [新和英中辞典]

(4) Electromagnetism
a) 〈電気の〉 induction [新和英中辞典]
b) 感応の inductive. [GG5]
c) 感応コイル 【電】 an induction coil. [GG5]

Isn't the "thing inside one's body ..." gloss sufficient for explaining 虫の知らせ? Whether the insect is real or figurative doesn't seem relevant to me. Meikyo and shinmeikai don't even mention the traditional belief.
It might be better to lead with the descriptive gloss and add "believed to ..."

I still feel quite strongly that an explanatory note on sense 3 is appropriate and helpful. I want to put an xref here from 虫の知らせ but what's the point if we don't explain that this was originally used literally? I think the etymology/traditional belief has bearings on how the word is used/understood today as well.

You're correct. I note that the JE dictionaries favour transitive glosses (in the active voice), probably because the passive voice can sound awkward and is less helpful for translations. e.g. "このびんには2リットル入る" is better translated as "This bottle holds two litres" than as "Two litres can be held in this bottle". But I support the change. I've amended the "obtain" sense as well.
Added some more senses.
I don't think we need a separate sense for "break into".
I'll reindex the sentences if this is approved.

From what I understand, sense 4 seems "backwards" - the most common definitions of "contain", "hold", and "accommodate" are transitive, but "入る" is listed as intransitive. The examples I have seen other dictionaries use to explain this sense all seem to point to a passive definition, where the subject is the item being "contained". I suspect sense 7 has the same issue, but I couldn't find examples online in English and my Japanese is poor.

The German connection is from daijirin, although none of the other refs mention it. The quoted pixiv entry hints at some possible Dutch influence.

I think the irregular tag might be too strong considering how common the form is and how many sources acknowledge it. Probably not a big deal either way.

It depends on inflection. If 宣う and 曰う are v4h too then they should be here, but if they are v5u they need their own entry.
From what I can see the kokugos are treating them as equivalents. The electronic editions of 広辞苑 and 大辞林 just map 宣う to the 宣ふ entry.
I'd be interested in Rene's view on this.
