Comments: | 1) I don't think "esp. a bird" is really justified. 鳴く is defined in one dictionary as "cry, bark, yelp, whine, mew, meow, moo ..." I looked at the first page of Google results for "の鳴き真似" and none of them were imitations of bird calls. They were mostly dogs or cats. I also checked the first two pages of Google videos for the same search term. About half of them were either cat or dog, and there were also horse and cicada. About one-third were birds. There was also one case of a baby's cry performed by a parrot! 2) I added "imitating ... a sound" on account of the case of the lyrebird: a) コトドリという大型の鳥です。ワライカワセミの鳴き声を真似たり、電気ノコギリの音の鳴き真似をします。 https://detail.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/qa/question_detail/q14210496609 b) コトドリの鳴き真似 https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm10603366 (video of a lyrebird mimicking a camera shutter, an opera singer, the Seinfeld bass guitar theme, etc.) |

We already have an entry for that (1013120) which covers the case pretty well. With ようにする already an entry, in what way does this proposed entry add anything useful? |

But given that lsrc tags will be entry-wide in the next generation of jmdict, it's necessary to split anyway. Sense 1 is tagged as colloquial in daijs and meikyo. |

Comments: | I can only find a couple dozen examples of this online. I'm surprised it's in GG5. "Jury" just means temporary so I'm not sure this needs to go in JE dictionary. Other translations include 仮のマスト、応急マスト and 応急仮設マスト. |
