Comments: | I'd like to suggest splitting the senses according to the uses of に, so that each sense has a different meaning. "Anyone" can appear in positive sentences so I don't think a positive/negative split is the way to go. For this proposed split to work, we'd need example sentences indexed for each sense, but I think this approach is ultimately clearer. I should note that even with this split, a single sense may contain multiple meanings of に. |

Comments: | Just a comment, that I will clear in a day or so.... Those "削り、歯" patterns are certainly very evident in straight WWW searches for "削り歯", however unlike Google's indexing of WWW pages, the n-grams do not bridge punctuation like that. The generation process involved breaking up text using punctuation, white-space, etc. as delimiters, then extracting n-grams from the resulting segments. See the README file at https://catalog.ldc.upenn.edu/docs/LDC2009T08/ for details. I followed the same procedure for the KM n-grams. Of course the 削り歯 that were counted may have been cases where the punctuation was missing. |

Comments: | You guys, not me, are the ones making a dictionary and it's in your interest, not necessarily mine, that the dictionary is as complete as possible. The way I see it, I'm doing you a favor by letting you know that hey, this one common word is missing, you might want to include it. Being met with a hostile sourpuss attitude because I didn't hand it to you on a silver plate is simply unbecoming, especially when it would have taken you 5 seconds of effort to realize it's included in other major dictionaries. Apparently you (Rene) thought that time (and then some) was wiser spent on "schooling" me. I get that this is a volunteer effort for you too, but if doing even the minimal amount of work needed to confirm a simple entry suggestion like this is a bother, then maybe you should ask yourself why you've decided to take up lexicography as a hobby in the first place. |

Comments: | yes, either we should abandon it entirely or figure out some way of automating the process. i suppose [n-pr] does sometimes add clarity to an entry, but overall my guess is that it is almost always obvious from the english gloss whether it is a proper or common noun. probably not needed since it was introduced late in the game, without ever broadly applying it (if we're deleting PoS, maybe we can finally change all the [n-t] entries to [n]. that tag has been applied quite inconsistently as well) |
|
3. | A* 2019-10-07 10:24:23 Robin Scott <...address hidden...> | |
