Good approach, I think.
5. A* 2019-01-20 23:14:51  Robin Scott <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
The commenter is saying that with our current glosses, 炎を受け付けません could be wrongly translated as "not withstand the fire" (the opposite of the actual meaning).
This is a tricky one because glosses like "bear" or "tolerate" are perfectly fine in other cases (e.g. "胃が弱くて, 油っぽい食物を受け付けない. My weak stomach won't take/tolerate fatty food.")
But in the commenter's example they're ambiguous. You could interpret "not bear the fire" as meaning either "not be exposed to the fire" or "unable to endure the fire".
The same goes for this sentence in GG5: "この新型の装甲車は通常の対戦車砲の弾などまったく受け付けない. This new armored car will completely withstand normal antitank weaponry."
I think having an extra sense is the way to go but it's probably best to avoid glosses like "to refuse; to reject; to resist" (that only work when the verb is the negative) because it creates confusion.
I've proposed a new sense based on the "to be affected by" suggestion.

Isn't saying that they'd *resist* the flames while they were petrified? This verb is often used in the negative to mean reject/refuse, e.g. GG5 has:
受け付けない 〔拒絶する〕 refuse; reject; turn down
I guess it's not clear that here refuse/reject/turn down/resist is the opposite of accept/receive/etc. We could have entries for 受け付けない and/or 受け付けません, or we could have another sense "(in the negative) to refuse; to reject; to turn down; to resist".
What do others think?

I have this game where a magician has decided to save everyone from burning to death by turning them temporarily into stone, and she explains why with this line:

「少しの間 石になっていてもらいます。
石になっている間は炎を受け付けません」

I believe the translations of sense 2 here are completely the wrong way around. You would get the impression that they would NOT withstand the heat when they are petrified. But this is of course the opposite of its correct meaning.

I don't know how to fix this.

I came up with "to be affected by" "to take in" but that's it.

I'm OK with this, I guess, but one issue
now is that it's unclear what type of
toilet "Japanese style toilet" actually

decidedly 洋式 in Japanese. I made an
amendment which isn't very elegant, but
somebody else can maybe come up with
something better. Also 洋式 should be

It does refer to toilets in the vast majority of cases, I agree. (The room results are mostly Chinese.)
But I still don't know if we can really consider it an abbreviation. None of the kokugos do.
How about a single "Japanese-style (esp. toilet)" sense?
6. A* 2019-01-20 07:29:41  Marcus Richert <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
When I google 和式 (on Google Japan, while being in Japan), I ONLY get pictures of toilets, nothing else. No rooms.
I did consider the point Robin made before submitting my amendment but I think the same thing could be said (that it can be used
to refer to anything depending on the context) for a whole lot of other senses listed as "abbr" in daij. Take daijs' clay entry,
for example:
"クレー
《「クレイ」とも》1 粘土。また、粘土製の物。2 「クレーピジョン」の略。3 「クレー射撃」の略。4 「クレーコート」の略。"

I doubt that クレー by itself is used to refer to "clay pidgeons" or " half as often as "和式" by itself is used to refer to
"Japanese toilets".
Also consider that signs on toilet doors in Japan normally only say "和式"/"洋式" and not "和式トイレ"/"洋式トイレ"

I cannot find any evidence for sense 1.
Sense 2 is for expressions such as 六時半, but I'm not sure 時半 is a suffix here.
I would parse it as 六時 plus the suffix 半.

There are 60 tagged examples in Tanaka,
all of them sense 2 (a few are mistagged as sense 1)

We could:
1. reorder the senses (if anyone can find any evidence for sense 1)
2. drop sense 1
3. drop the entry entirely

I think this could be confusing. If someone describes themselves as 和式派, it means they prefer the Japanese version of some particular thing (almost always toilets), not Japanese things in general.
I think expanding the 派 entry would be a better idea. At the moment we have only sense and it doesn't really capture this usage.

The link above explains the meaning of 奇譚 but includes a note about 綺譚, saying "「綺譚」の意味としては、「美しい優れた物語」となります。"
Makes sense given that the kanji dictionaries have "beautiful" as a meaning for 綺 but not "strange" or "mysterious".
Also, Nagai wouldn't have created a new word with exactly the same meaning as an existing word.
I think they should be kept separate.

KOD追加語彙 has this as a combined 綺譚/奇譚 entry meaning "a strange tale." It comments:"あり
そうもない不思議な話"
  Comments:
Do we combine, or split as suggested by that stackexchange comment? I'd go with the GG5
(KOD) version.

ちゃんこい is a bit more common. It can't go here as these readings don't fit the kanji form. I'll put them into another entry.

Added the other variations. I heard "ちゃんこい" from a Hokkaidou girl, and thought it should be added. Here's a direct japanese source referencing the extra ways of saying it: https://ameblo.jp/fusigina-mori/entry-12043786551.html

I'm planning to add this to the glossing file, but it's possibly useful as a full
entry. The JEs have it as a subentry.
