I don't think we need sense 2 at all. As 中辞典 helpfully points out, "lynching は「私的処刑」であって, 殺人行為を意味する. 単に「私的制裁」もしくは「集団暴行」を意味する日本語の「リンチ」とまったく同じではない."

近頃では、若者に限らず、「煮詰まってしまっていい考えが浮かばない」のように「行き詰まる」の意味で使われることが多くなっている。本来は誤用。2の意は1900年代後半に始まるようである。「行き詰まる」の意は1950年ころの使用例があるが、広まったのは2000年ころからか。
文化庁が発表した平成19年度「国語に関する世論調査」では、「7日間に及ぶ議論で、計画が煮詰まった」を、本来の意味である「(議論や意見が十分に出尽くして)結論の出る状態になること」で使う人が56.7パーセント、間違った意味「(議論が行き詰まってしまって)結論が出せない状態になること」で使う人が37.3パーセントという結果が出ている。

Curiously my EJs only offer 多語 for "multi-word", but it's not common. We have an entry with マルチワード in it, but it's not common either.
