ショートショートショート・ショート
1. [n] Source lang: eng
▶ short short (story)

History:
3. A 2018-07-10 22:58:34  Jim Breen <...address hidden...>

  Comments:
"Flash fiction" is the contemporary English
term; ショートショート is a borrowing from US
1920s/1930s, though because the term "short
short" has fallen out of use, it's easily
mistaken for 和製英語.

I only looked at sense [3] the last time I edited this entry, but it looks like the other two sense notes are wrong as well.

* Meikyo has 価 on the "price; cost" sense.
* Obunsha has a long 〘使い分け〙 section in which it explains that 価 is associated with monetary sums and 値 is used for abstract merit and worth.
* Sankoku splits 値 and 価 into separate entries and describes 価 as "price; cost."
* GG5 also uses 価 in its example for the "price; cost" sense.

I'm adding [form] tags as well.

* Iwakoku says the "price; cost" sense is 既に古風.
* Shinmeikai describes both of these senses as やや改まった表現.
* Sankoku has a 文 tag both senses.

That restriction means that only 訊く is used for sense 3, which isn't correct.
The only way to indicate that 訊く only applies to sense 3 is to add restrictions to all the other senses.
A cleaner solution (and what I propose) is to split 訊く out into its own entry which points here. Most of the refs don't include it as a headword, only as a "「訊く」とも書く" note.

  Comments:
apparently あおみどり is an old name for it, so i suspect they've become confused along the way. あおみどろ could be added
as a gikun reading to the entry for あおみどり, but that would require a sense restriction. easiest just to leave this one as is, i think
1. A* 2018-07-10 06:04:34  Jim Breen <...address hidden...>

青緑?? that's usually あおみどり/ blue-green; turquoise; aqua. I can't find any reference having 青緑 mixed up in the アオミドロ entry. I wonder if it's an ancient typo/変換ミス? "iK" or delete it?

It went in in 2007 because of コレステロール値. We also have コード値 and a heap of other terminating 値/ち examples, even GI値. Looking on I see データ値, デフォールト値, パラメタ値, バイト値, ヌル値, etc.
I realise that Japanese lexicographers are not treating it as a suffix, but I feel if it's waddling like a duck and quacking like a duck ....

possibly debatable, but no japanese dictionary i possess treats this as a suffix; it's kanwa in all that have it (poss. because it's the on'yomi). also not in gg5 or eijiro. suggest it be deleted as kanwa

I suggest splitting out おっちゃん. I think saying it can be written with 小父ちゃん is a stretch (though I'm sure the version of nikk that was online on kotobank at the time suggested that that was the case). it's not listed in daijs' entry.
