Comments: | It IS a Wikipedia entry, which seems to be mostly about the term or concept being used in non-Japanese contexts. I don't want to go down the path of saying we should attempt to include every Wikipedia entry, but it is an indication of some level of currency, and means it will turn up elsewhere such as on the Weblio site. For now, I think it may as well be accepted. |

Comments: | 197 googits. Not in any of the dictionaries, even eijro. This is not a term that's in use in Japanese. |

▶ popularly accepted "on" reading of a kanji (as opposed to those derived from Chinese)

Comments: | OK, let's use "on" when the gloss is otherwise a bit ambiguous. I'll go through and add them where I think it's needed. Something like: 重箱読み;重箱読(io) [じゅうばこよみ] /(n) (See 湯桶読み) mixed on-kun reading/ is probably OK. |

Comments: | i haven't looked at the other entries, but i agree that "on" could be confusing without the quotation marks. i think we should standardize on: "on" reading or on-yomi / on'yomi |

Comments: | It might not be the best approach. I just think that "popularly accepted on reading" is somewhat confusing to read. Are there any alternatives? |

Comments: | Should we be using quotation marks for on and kun for readings? If so there are about 8 other entries containing them. We don't put other ローマ字 in quotes. |
