Comments: | * Add [lsrc] * Add “strict”. The nuance is often closer to “strict”, as in “strict *requirements*” (要求, 条件) – “severe requirements” is not really idiomatic English. Comments: | I think the "nothing (with neg. verb)" usage should be mentioned. It makes up over 2/3 of the usage of 何事も in the Tanaka sentences, for example. Cases like 何事もなく are immediately obvious, but in sentences like 何事も彼女が彼と結婚することを妨げる事はできない the verb is a long way down the text. I realise the JEs don't split senses in these cases, but I have no problem with it being a sense. Either way it should be there somewhere. |

Comments: | Jim entered the unabbreviated term as ""as is" sale (e.g. at an auction)" but I think the translation needs to be more literal. The typical phrasing here is "NCNRで お願いします". I don't think I've ever seen "NCNRです". It's pretty clear that what they're talking about here is "please don't be bothersome", esp. as it's usu. accompanied by the phrase "神経質な方はお断りします" |
