I think this division is comfortable for the reader, as the first sense is more
common and precise than the second one (all the related examples from
the TC are also about the first sense) ; then the v-s in the first sense is
usually intransitive while the second vs is often transitive. (see the
examples above)

A neat trick that 累犯 and 初犯 are not する, but 再犯 is, is quite the trick.

sankoku does not give [2], or 初犯者 for that matter. Much like English, maybe, "offender" isn't really as useful as "reoffender".

  Comments:
But the first gloss for 興奮 is "excitement",
not "to excite", which makes it a lot less
ambiguous. I might be wrong but I have a
feeling most users without previous knowledge
of the word would assume the vs here
incorrectly means "to bother (sb)" while most
people would not misunderstand 興奮. It might
be possible to solve this by changing the
glosses around somehow, but I think a large
part of the ambiguousness is in the Japanese
word itself, not the translations.
7. A* 2018-04-25 13:35:46  Robin Scott <...address hidden...>
  Comments:
I feel this would probably be clear from context. 興奮する means "to be excited" rather than "to excite (someone)" but we don't have a separate [vs] sense to make this explicit. There are probably countless of examples like this.

I don't think we're in the business of cataloguing every kanji form of a word that has ever been used. If we were, we might be adding 50 more forms to our entry for みだれる, for example.

I only see the first three forms for かるた in my dictionaries. I think the rest could be dropped or hidden. If that's no good, we should at least use the [rK] tag; we're using [oK] for kyūjitai.

This was discussed on the show "Getsuyou kara Yofukashi". further along the nuclear side of the byungjin line of
parallel development of nuclear weapons and the national
economy, and arguably, one step back on the economic
side of the dual-track policy."

"North Korea had previously made similar threats and
claims about its nuclear capabilities. But remarks by
senior officials during the congress showed that Mr. Kim
was using the rare political gathering to rally the
party behind his so-called “byungjin” policy. On
Saturday, Mr. Kim said that policy was not a temporary
step but his party’s “permanent strategic line.”

The byungjin — or “parallel advance” — policy calls for
stockpiling nuclear weapons in the belief that the
deterrent would allow the country to focus on economic
recovery. "
