Comments: | There's a good explanation in the link posted. ---- I think the "?" gloss is confusing. I thought someone had forgotten to write something in. While not ideal, the old way was better in my view. |

Comments: | Well, the point you are making is plainly wrong, "-chan" is clearly among the suffixes that "yobisute" indicates you're not using. Daijisen says "「君」「様」「さん」_など_の敬称" (my emphasis). Koj mentions 殿・様・さん・君. That doesn't mean we need to include "殿" or さま here, it's not an exhaustive list. The wording you're suggesting doesn't make sense to me either, "even '-sama'" seems to imply that "-sama" would be the least polite of the suffixes listed, when it's quite the opposite. |

Refs: | https://www.weblio.jp/content/呼び捨て Please refer to 小学館大辞泉. It says "《「よびずて」とも》人の名を「君」「様」「さん」などの敬称をつけずに呼ぶこと。" So addressing someone "-chan" or not is not even what "yobisute" is talking about. "-chan" is totally out of concern of this context. Only whether addressing someone by "-san", "-sama", "-kun" OR NOT is the context of "yobisute". That is my point. |

Comments: | まえつぼ is correctly written as 前壺, so this sense is correctly written as 壺. so if anything, this belongs as a sense of 壺 with 坪 as [iK]. however, this sense of 壺 doesn't seem to appear in any kokugo and it's not clear that it's common enough to be worth recording, so i would probably pass on it |

Comments: | I have a problem with this edit. Only that quoted source has 坪/つぼ with that meaning. It doesn't have that meaning in any kokugo or kanwa that I have checked. Also, the kokugos have 7 or 8 senses for 坪/つぼ which we don't because (a) no-one has proposed them, and (b) they're fairly rare. If we were to add this sense, I'd want to see the ones in the kokugos put in ahead of it. I've just approved 前つぼ without 坪 because it couldn't really be verified. I'll wait a short while, but I think this sense can't go in solo and certainly without better support. |

I think other numbers here listed as "approx." should also be rounded, but I'll stick to [1] at the moment, which is fairly well supported in mainstream literature (in English and Japanese). Major Japanese real estate website: https://www.homes.co.jp/cont/living/living_00088/ 1坪は約3.30578平方メートル、1平方メートルは約0.3025坪です。 but: この「坪」については3.3平方メートルと書かれている場合も多いのですが... And note, the error between 3.31 and 3.30578 is nearly as large as 3.30 and 3.30578. |

There are numerous possible references out there, and if the first one we check does not support your edit, then we have to keep checking through references until we find one that does. It is a matter of simple courtesy, and not an onerous burden. If you're taking time to submit a change, then take the slight additional time to supply rationale or a reference. |

Comments: | I don't think "to represent a third party's apparent emotion" is entirely correct, but we might want to check with a native speaker. I'm under the impression that you can use it to describe the feelings of a second party as well, e.g. "お前、めっちゃ悔しがってるやん" or "お前、かな り欲しがってるじゃん" (both of these get a handful of google hits) _ Also I think sense 3 doesn't belong here because it's strictly about the たがる usage. I can't come up with any usage without た(い) with this meaning. |

Comments: | It may be a bit redundant, but I was hoping we could keep it as a way to distinguish it from the definition of 市町村. After all, this word explicitly spells out Tokyo wards as part of its meaning. |
