Hm. I should point out I did find a handful of entries
in daijr which are read -さん but given as -様, namely
いとさん【愛様・幼様】 (ksb)
はばかりさん【憚り様】(ksb)
てきさん【敵様】(arch) (also in daijs)
I still think we should split though because -様 for
-さん is definitely archaic and only relatively modern in
ksb, at best. It's a strenuous connection for a merge
esp. as it's in nikk alone - we don't merge entries
based on nikk's lack of okurigana, for example.

I feel the main point is that fathers are
scarier than natural disasters.
"thunder is scarier than earthquakes,
fires are scarier still, but father is the
scariest of them all"

The "順にあげた" is lost a bit. I wonder about "scary things in order: earthquakes, thunder, fires, one's father"

Splitting sense 1.
らんる only has the first two meanings. It's also marked as〔文〕in meikyo and sankoku. I'll split it out into a separate entry.
We wouldn't usually put adj-f and adj-na together but I think it's appropriate here. Daijr has a 形動 sense but it typically appears directly before the noun. Sankoku has a "造語成分" sense for this usage.
We don't typically use the gikun tag when the entry only has one reading but maybe we should. This is a discussion for GitHub but it might be better if [gikun] went on the kanji, not the reading, so that we're more like the kokugos. We would no longer be able to merge gikun/jukujikun readings with other readings but I think I prefer that approach.

i think i agree. but we have not always been consistent about what is tagged as [vs]. sometimes web-based evidence of usage has been enough to tag it as such, even though it could just be considered a common case of dropping the を. i prefer to stick with the kokugos.

also the original suggestion of linking to 掛ける (sense 22!) might be more useful than linking to とする

Not sure if this is the best way to handle the [lit] gloss for this. It's not literally the whole [lit] gloss from the other entry, but while "[lit] a young monk outside the gate" doesn't make much sense, I'd rather not drop the gloss entirely.
