Comments: | I am having a hard time finding easy-to-read references for this. There are two units in a mahjong hand's score: the fu and the han. Each yaku in the hand has a han value, which are summed together to get the hand's final han value. If han value is < 5, the formula is fu * 2 ^ (han + 2), rounded up to the nearest 100 points. If han value >= 5, the hand is worth mangan / haneman / baiman etc. points. This value is not quite the final score, but depends on the method of win (tsumo or ron) and the player (east or not). It is generally multiplied by 4 or 6 depending on those two factors. Most people just use a chart for this. See also entries 1915790 and 2754210. |

Comments: | I don't think this needs to be an entry. As the first gg5 example shows, it's not always preceded by a noun. On its own it means "to be on the brink of a crisis". I'd parse the second example as "絶滅の危機" + "に瀕している". The glosses we have for 瀕する are almost identical to the ones here so no one should struggle with the meaning. |
