仕様 is irregular here. The しよう in どうしようもない is the volitional form of する, not a noun. Note that daijs has 仕様もない for しょうもない but only 如何しようも無い for どうしようもない.

One more counterpoint to myself you might also consider:
どう仕様も無い[rK]
all else [sK].

This provides all of the "reasonable" kanji for the entry (如何 excluded).  I find that it can be easier to understand a long string of kana when you unambiguously understand the associated kanji form, even if the kanji are not ordinarily used.

While it's in my previous treatise somewhere, I'll just add succinctly "I agree".  Will try for some more condensed edits going forward.
