7. | A* 2018-11-25 07:25:09 Marcus Richert <...address hidden...> | |
Comments: | I don't think we should have to do a note here. What I reacted to is that this is not how we usually do these entries. Each line has a completely separate gloss that's not compatible with the others. If we split each gloss into a separate sense, I think that would be closer to what we normally do, but I'm not really sure I think that's the best approach either. if we want to include all these latin names, shouldn't the first line be something like hairy mite (in reference to a large number of species including Trombidiidae spp., Erythraeoidea spp., Trombiculidae spp., Tetranychidae spp., Cheyletidae spp.) but my preference would be a much simpler hairy mite (esp. red velvet mite) or hairy mite (esp. red velvet mite, Trombidiidae spp.) |

Comments: | Sorry, should maybe have explained my thinking. "Boned rib" isn't a common phrase, much less common than "boneless rib" (by an order of magnitude on the google ngrams viewer). Googling "boned rib" shows several pictures of rib and other meat WITH bones, so it seems "boned" in the meaning of "de-boned" is an easy to misunderstand phrase. That's why I put "boneless rib" first in all the "ばら"-related entries. |

Comments: | From a member of our company's Tokyo office: "モロバレ is a compound term of もろに(in other words, まともに or 直接に) and ばれる. “もろに” means “hard”, “obviously”, “directly” or “completely”, and “ばれる” means “expose”, “come out”. For example, we use the word when someone is trying to hide something, but it’s obviously exposed to the public (so almost people already know about that)." |

4888 native informant in her 30's was only vaguely familiar with the expression 酒の肴 but familiar with 酒のお供/酒の供 |
