Comments: | For 「おい」, daijr/nikk/gg5 have similar notes as daijs. But meikyo/koj only note the familiar part. Regarding 「おおい」, daijs has: 「遠くの人に呼びかけるときの声」. So while they both might be used for calling out, the situation is different. Probably best to split the long variants out (without [fam, male]) and note that they're used at a distance. |

Comments: | I am suggesting that you make a cross-link [as an example] with the following:- 親譲り 【おやゆずり】 (n) inheritance from a parent; (P) When the novice sees "ゆずり" as a prefix it is fairly easy to recognise that it is the masu form of "ゆずる". When it follows an ordinary word like "おかあさん", the connection is not so clear. When the novice searches your site for "ゆずり" nothing comes up. If it was a link as suggested, I guess that it would come up on the search and clarify the matter. You have the following on the site:- 譲り 【ゆずり】 (?) ???; RH 譲り 【ゆずり】 taking over; WI1 |

Comments: | Hm. I should point out I did find a handful of entries in daijr which are read -さん but given as -様, namely いとさん【愛様・幼様】 (ksb) はばかりさん【憚り様】(ksb) てきさん【敵様】(arch) (also in daijs) I still think we should split though because -様 for -さん is definitely archaic and only relatively modern in ksb, at best. It's a strenuous connection for a merge esp. as it's in nikk alone - we don't merge entries based on nikk's lack of okurigana, for example. |

Comments: | Big note: sankoku makes a dedicated entry for 甚く・痛く, and does *not* include sense [3] under 痛い at all. Highly unusual for an adjective. [3] may be [arch] as [adj-i]. Can't say "esp. 甚い" on [3], since [3] is [uk], and 痛く is still more common than 甚く. Fair enough that [3] is pretty much the only place 甚 is used. As daijs notes, when it is used it is not is いたい, but as いたく, which we have a separate entry for(where 甚い is not [rK]). 5 (甚い)程度のはなはだしいさま。*****多く、連用形を用いる。→甚(いた)く****** Curious how [suf] should apply to [3]. We don't use [suf] for adjectives like 深い (興味深い, and 20+ similar entries). Seems to be reserved for things like にくい、やすい、etc. that modify verb stems (食べやすい、読みにくい) or くさい with [id] meanings ("smells-like"/seems-like). I don't see how [3] could possibly do this...) === Aside: strong agree with Marcus from some years back on [int] "ouch!". I can't think of a more natural Japanese interjection than that. https://japaneseparticlesmaster.xyz/itai-in-japanese/ but can also work as an interjection, especially in speaking, to mean ‘ouch’ in Japanese. https://eow.alc.co.jp/search?q=痛い 痛い! 間投 ouch ow〔突然の痛み〕 https://context.reverso.net/translation/japanese-english/痛い#ouch |
