Comments: | For 「おい」, daijr/nikk/gg5 have similar notes as daijs. But meikyo/koj only note the familiar part. Regarding 「おおい」, daijs has: 「遠くの人に呼びかけるときの声」. So while they both might be used for calling out, the situation is different. Probably best to split the long variants out (without [fam, male]) and note that they're used at a distance. |

Comments: | I am suggesting that you make a cross-link [as an example] with the following:- 親譲り 【おやゆずり】 (n) inheritance from a parent; (P) When the novice sees "ゆずり" as a prefix it is fairly easy to recognise that it is the masu form of "ゆずる". When it follows an ordinary word like "おかあさん", the connection is not so clear. When the novice searches your site for "ゆずり" nothing comes up. If it was a link as suggested, I guess that it would come up on the search and clarify the matter. You have the following on the site:- 譲り 【ゆずり】 (?) ???; RH 譲り 【ゆずり】 taking over; WI1 |

Comments: | ***Realized がら落ち is already in JMdict. The origin of the term as coming from ナイアガラ also seems inaccurate, as a separate finance source (posted at the bottom of this comment) lists the origin as coming from ガラガラ (1003290). It sounds probable to me that this is the actual origin and the Niagara Falls association came later. That being said, ガラ on its own in Katakana does show up quite a bit, as well as the verbified ガラる. Perhaps a separate entry may be warranted? Here is the other source I mentioned: https://www.ifinance.ne.jp/glossary/souba/sou362.html#gsc.tab=0 |

|
Comments: | Added second definition: ガラ to mean "massive drop". This term comes from the last two characters of ナイアガラ and is most commonly used to describe a steep decline in the value of a stock or cryptocurrency, likening it to Niagara Falls. A verb version "ガラる" exists as well, also mentioned in two of the sources listed. |
