As far as Google can tell us, it was only ever used by English speakers in English in Japan, never in Japanese by Japanese speakers, outside of an extremely limited amount of commenting on said usage by English speakers in Japan. I'm not saying (and wasn't saying) that it couldn't be possible for a reverse 和製英語 (英製和語?) thing to happen where a word minted by foreigners in Japan ends up entering the Japanese language - I'm just saying it clearly didn't happen here. The usage of the word among non-Japanese was merely *discussed* in Japanese. That doesn't mean it was ever *used* in Japanese. |
