Comments: | Looks like a word that is becoming/has become disfavored over time. This term is currently [news2], but I doubt it would be if stats were collected today. This term is *mentioned* in sankoku under 浮浪 in this way: 【[ー者]今は「ホームレス」】 it does not get its own entry. I won't be surprised if my edit is squished back into one sense, but mixing the glosses together gives no guidance for non-English-natives. If you are reading old texts, even government publications used 浮浪者 in designating homeless people. This use is [dated]. Use ホームレス instead. But 浮浪者 is obviously still quite common. Google for: site:mainichi.jp "浮浪者" , 20 results returned, generally of a historical nature Google for: site:mainichi.jp "ホームレス" , endless stream of results One of the uses of 浮浪者 in mainichi.jp, for example, was discussing the two "vagrants" from "Waiting for Godot". Like 看護婦, "deprecated" is maybe the right idea. You'll obviously see this term all over the place even today (especially since the homeless command no degree of respect, unlike nurses). But foreigners should probably be advised to avoid it and use ホームレス instead. |

Comments: | I submitted a proposal for an entry for キャラクターボイス as well. . Note that when the term "character voice" is used by English-speaking anime or game fans, it means "the voice created for the character by the actor" rather than "the voice actor". Examples from the Web: - Kurei Kei is the first character (Character Voice by Sumire Uesaka)! - Each CD single contains two songs (sung in character voice by the seiyuu) and two karaoke tracks. - made up of the characters Mikumo Guynemer (character voice by Koshimizu Ami, ... - character voice by gorgeous voice actors! - Ciel / Character Voice by Rie Tanaka - Magical Pop'n, character voice by Ai Iijima - Voice actor unit of Amamiya Sora (雨宮 天), Takahashi Rie, and Kayano Ai in character voice provide the ending theme Chiisana Bokensha |
