Comments: | The usual translation of 功徳/利益(りやく) is "merit". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merit_(Buddhism) "Merit is a force that results from good deeds done" I don't think "grace" is a good translation for this because of the connotations of unconditional love. There's nothing unconditional about Buddhist merit, you have to the good deeds to get it. |

Comments: | Sense [2] Context: a dragons nest: 魔力のこもったものを営巣の材料にする translated as "objects infused with magic" In [3], the subject is the thing doing the filling (hence our placeholder of "the room"). It would seem that it is the same in [2]. If the subject is the "emotion/enthusiasm/etc.", it seems inconsistent to structure this as "to be filled with". This suggests something like 手紙が愛情にこもった. I added an [oft] note which I think clarifies what's going on. Maybe that and the xref are enough to clear up what is happening. Now that I look at it, [3] really has the same problem. "to be heavy with", "to be stuffy", "to be dense" (should this be "to be dense with...smoke, etc."?). For purely practical reasons, maybe a dedicated entry for こもった makes sense? I found two [expr] here that use it(and xref'd them), but if you find こもった in the wild you have to be able to turn it back to a verb to find this entry, and it seems like ~のこもった is a pretty common and useful structure. The sankoku examples use this structure (意味が~、心のこもったおくりもの) I included もの in the [note] the way I would include [something] in an English gloss as a placeholder for any noun.... This seems clearer to me with than without, but that's just my take. |

The only references I can find are two 知恵袋 answers (which explain that 収獲 is for animals and 収穫 is for plants). Looking at Google hits, 収獲 appears to be a 変換ミス for 収穫 in 99% of cases but searching 収獲+魚 returns some relevant results. I'm not sure this is a real word but if we're going to keep it, these are my suggestions for glosses. |
