Comments: | Thought this was in need of a major revision. There's a lot of variation in how the 国語s split the senses so I've tried to condense them in a way that makes sense. I'm still not sure if the 1st sense glosses adequately cover usage like "学費を稼ぐ". GG5 has "(go out to) work for ~", which I like, but it might be a bit too wordy to use as a gloss. Any thoughts? |

Designating 台湾語 as a dialect is a political, not a linguistic, statement, since 台湾語、 Hakka, Mandarin, and the various other Chinese languages are mutually unintelligible. |
