Comments: | That's gg5's equivalent of an x-ref IMO. The wikipedia entry also mentions Pott's disease. It is a type of カリエス and so the term カリエス can refer to it. However, in English, it's not so obvious since it's not called a "caries of the spine". In conclusion, I think that there would be some value in adding a reference to Pott's disease in order to inform the reader that カリエス may also refer to it. I also attempted to isolate the adjectival sense as a bonus. Not sure what the policy is on that. |

Comments: | I can't easily stop it happening as 人手/ひとで is a perfectly valid kanji/reading combination for two entries, so I can't force it to be unique. The indexing of examples in wwwjdic is on kanji+reading. I *could* combine the entries, but I think that's the tail wagging the dog. I'll leave this open for a bit - someone else might have a suggestion. |

Comments: | I don't think that just a latin name makes a good gloss. Here neither species nor genus seems to have an English name. Wiki says of the family Dryopteridaceae: "They are known colloquially as the wood ferns". "Wood fern" also means the genus Dryopteris. I think the gloss should be Polystichum tripteron (species of the wood fern family) or just Polystichum tripteron (species of fern). Comments? |
