9. | A 2016-12-08 02:25:15 Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
Comments: | I think this merged entry is best, as if GG5 is any indication any differentiation between the two has been lost (GG5 has 人民主義 for ポピュリスム). |
|
8. | A* 2016-12-06 05:59:44 Johan Råde <...address hidden...>
Comments: | Looking at other entries, there seems to be a general rule that English -ism is renderered -izumu while French -isme is rendered -isumu. Maybe this should be split as ポピュリズム;ポピュリスム[ik] - populism (politics) and ポピュリスム - populism (literature) I would be happy either way. |

Comments: | Rene, that note comes under the 3rd sense. There's no need to list (or even mention) ぱん because it's merely a rendaku reading. ばん, however, is the only valid reading for 版 (regardless of what comes before it) when used as a suffix in the first sense. Daijr even has an entry for ばん which redirects to はん (版). If I can't convince you to keep it in the list of readings, a note like the one I've written is an acceptable compromise. |

Comments: | Not sure if the gloss is OK. It can describe a person (an early riser), a day (when one must wake up early), etc. As usual, の can replace が in relative clauses. There's also 朝が遅い with opposite meaning. 研究者 新和英大辞典 doesn't have this as a separate entry (only in an example sentence under 朝) but nonetheless I think this entry could be useful to have. |

Comments: | I think I agree with Rene, but I see Daijirin does have a 仕/し entry apart from its 漢和 one, with the gloss: "つかえること。つとめ。". I think it's a bit of an outlier. |

Comments: | this is in the 漢字項目 section of daijisen. similarly, it's in the 造語成分 section of shinmeikai, and 造 in meikyo, etc. we don't cover those here. (belongs in kanjidic). there is already a separate entry for daijisen's real し【仕】entry |
