Comments: | Probably not worth making a カラーキー/カラー・キー entry as the gloss would be a problem. I'll index the カラー in that sentence to sense 4. |

|
Comments: | That's a separate sense but I'm not sure it's needed, especially if it only appears in compounds. There are plenty of other technical meanings of キー/"key" that I didn't bother to include. |

Comments: | The sentence uses カラー・キー. Here キー means code. I'm suggesting that be added to sense 4, but it could be a new sense. I've reindexed some sentences. |

Comments: | From the editorial policy's section on cross-references: ----- "Where the reference is to a particular headword/reading combination, use the format: kanji・reading, e.g., [see=金本位・かねほんい]." ----- So when the kanji form has more than one reading, include the reading. There are no guidelines on what to do in other cases. Some editors use the "kanji・reading" format for all x-refs. Others (including myself) tend to omit the reading (although sometimes I'll include it if it's unusual or unintuitive). I prefer this approach because I think it's neater. Also, if the kanji form is rare, I usually give the kana representation only. If the editors can reach an agreement, I'd be in favour of updating the editorial policy. |

Comments: | You make a good point. It gets quite a few hits, but it's always accompanied by an explanation. Could be grounds for rejection. I don't know if there is a policy on what entries are worthy of inclusion. Probably better to reject it not to clutter up the dictionary. |
|
2. | A* 2016-12-26 20:55:06 Robin Scott | |
Comments: | This word is not used in Japanese. The few dozen hits it gets on Google are merely explanations of what the term means. Literally any non-Japanese word can be written in katakana so a Wikipedia article by itself is not evidence of usage. (Indeed, this article is just a direct translation of the English original). |
