(my 3 Kansai native informers are strictly speaking Osakans) |

3. | A 2013-06-10 12:21:46 Jim Breen <...address hidden...> | |

|
Comments: | no idea what to do with this one. as it's basically just used as a proper noun in the names of universities nowadays, "private school" is probably fine as a first estimate, at least in my mind (as per kanjigen). the problem is that british and american ideas of "public school" and "private school" are quite different. the british notions make no sense to me. see for example here, where they define a "public school" as an "exclusive fee-paying private independent school": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_school_(United_Kingdom) WTF??? |

Comments: | May be applicable *anywhere* performance is measured, in fact? (not just comp and sports) - For example, in the following quote, it's about the performance of office workers: “栄養バランスを考えながら食べる”ことで、脳の働きや体調を保ち、パフォーマンスの向上につなげましょう http://news.ameba.jp/20130501-578/ - And the following quote is about the Mercedes Benz GL class 7-seater, so it's probably not about sports or computing, either: 【メルセデスベンツ GLクラス 発売】パフォーマンス向上をデザインでも - So, does this entry need *any* tags, then? . - Also, it seems like it's just a collocation: パフォーマンス + 向上 ... but I know you don't mind having these ;-) But if you keep the entry, another meaning – "improved performance" – should probably be added. |
