Comments: | Daijr & 中辞典 split senses. Senses 2 & 3 could be combined, but I think it's useful to split the noun and the interjection. An issue is whether 否否/いやいや/いえいえ should be combined here. Daijr and GG5 separate them, with 否否 meaning "no, no", but Koj combines them. I think it's better to keep them apart and cross-ref. I'll approve this to fix the xrefs, then reopen. |

I don't agree with the poster, I don't think our glosses are actually wrong and I don't think the "nuance" described in the J-J definition of "normally when you put something in your eye it hurts, but..." is necessary, but this part "何でも無批判に受け入れる" should maybe be worked in there somehow. There's probably No need to use eye-based glosses either considering the Japanese usage is so different. |

Comments: | In the text which I was reading the added entry above was used. The inclusion would help the novice to find the result. Sorry about the long descriptions. The main purpose of my recent submissions was the inclusion of the additional reading to help the search process. Many existing entries of a similar nature do have the additional readings in like mode to my submissions so I was really only complementing the norm. The actual gloss additions were simply picked up from other sources and, as for meaning, seemed to match in all right. I did not give references because they were simply another way of saying the same thing as that which was already included. I will try to be more discerning about length of description when pasting in an additional gloss, but I was somewhat reluctant to give my own personal gloss. |
