Comments: | I'm finding this one very tough. The decision here also affects 2/ツー, 3/スリー, etc. In theory ワン could be added to the 一 entry as a reading of "1". I tried it out to see if it wasn't too messy, and find that we can't restrict the reading as "1" isn't a kanji. My inclination is to keep them apart, cross-reference them, and add a note that "1" can be read ワン. I'll do that and we can see if it looks OK. |

Comments: | Pretty much any Japanese word can be written in katakana. I think we should only include the katakana if it is reasonably common. I don't think ケイサツカン qualifies. |
|
6. | A* 2017-08-02 01:54:07 Jim Breen <...address hidden...>
Comments: | Some non-JMdict sites using ケイサツカン: http://aaaaaa.co.jp/job/?p=152 https://www.no-ichigo.jp/read/book/book_id/620525 http://dic.nicovideo.jp/a/ザ・警察官 etc. Note that it's not a reading of 警察官; it's more an alternative written form. Frankly I don't care too much whether it's there or not. I'll just note that without it WWWJDIC's text-glossing will not handle it in katakana. |
|
5. | A* 2017-08-01 14:43:14 Mark Gaensicke <...address hidden...>
Comments: | I'm posting this edit for the sake of clarification and better understanding the Japanese language: The (alternative) reading ケイサツカン is uncommon and was deleted, then re-added to this entry before. I searched Google for any uses of it but only other sites using JMdict data came up. Google suggested the kanji word as search term. It would be good to state the marginal usage of this katakana reading to avoid confusion. Thank you! |

Jim, is there a way to tell from the wordfreq file whether しぶき should have priority tags?
