Comments: | At first I thought せうゆ might have been 旧仮名遣い for 醤油 but I see that's シヤウ in all the kokugos. せうゆ in fact is not in any kokugos, but the Q/A quoted seems to indicate that it is an old reading - it's an interesting discussion. We don't usually include 旧仮名遣い but I think せうゆ can probably stay as "old kana". |

Comments: | I notice there was no response to my earlier comment about this entry. I've now run across that usage in three different books, so I'll hope you'll reconsider including it. It's the meaning as in "例のあの人" (the translation of "you-know-who" in the Harry Potter Japanese versions), which is a meaning like "that X" (例のあの人 would be "that guy"), where X isn't necessarily "aforementioned" or "said". I also saw it as "例の包み" ("that package (which he had earlier retrieved)") and "例の子供達" ("those kids (who have been in the newspapers lately") and "例のコンピューター" ("that computer (that the vice-principal keeps using")). I might put the meaning as "that (person or thing)" or "those (persons or things)", although that doesn't fully capture it, but it might be too wordy to say "that (person or thing that is well-known or has previously been a topic of discussion)" (noting again that "aforementioned" doesn't really capture it, because the prior mention may have taken place "offscreen"). When I've seen it, there's also a nuance of the thing in question perhaps being somewhat notorious or mysterious. |

For the novice, it is a great help to have the following two existing entries:- になる (suf) (1) becomes; will become; turns out; (2) (with "o" and masu-stem of verb) grammatical form creating an honorific verbal expression; (P) になると (exp) when it becomes; when it comes to; (P) You may consider that the inclusion of this submission is equally justified. You do, of course, have separate entries for all the individual bits and all of these entries are just a + b. |

The eggs are usually soft boiled, so it wouldn't be possible to get much flavour into them from the sauce in the time it takes to soft-boil an egg anyway.) . Example: この日は、麺は、スープは醤油を選択し、更にトッピングに煮玉子を追 加しました。 |
|
Comments: | There are lots of recipes on the Web, and YouTube clips. e.g. http://cook-for-two.blogspot.com.au/2011/09/ni-tamago.html . Apparently, this sort of egg is commonly used as a topping for noodles, donburi etc. |

Comments: | This may just be just a description, but it appears in a children's text book for Japanese children. The individual parts can be looked up, but the result leaves doubts in terms of literal translation. Whereas, it has a definitive meaning in Japan. The above meaning is based upon Wikipedia. Wikipedia relate this meaning to your entry, which is as follows:- 教育漢字 【きょういくかんじ】 (n) (See 常用漢字, 当用漢字) list of 1,006 kanji taught in Japanese primary schools I think that a cross-link from this submission to your entry, as above, would seem to be appropriate. The supporting search numbers, surprisingly, do not seem too great for either this submission of your existing entry. |

Comments: | I am suggesting promotion of this because the main entries in the dictionary do not give this general concept of distribution. They are mostly about dividends, for example:- 配当 【はいとう】 (n,vs) dividend; share; (P) 配当表 【?】 list of dividends; WI2 Whereas, when it is used in the context of "学年別漢字配当表" it is certainly not about dividends. It may be the case that you would prefer to add the general concept of "distribution" to "配当 【はいとう】 (n,vs) dividend; share; (P)" and then maybe this submission would be unnecessary; although I would prefer to see its inclusion as well as it gives a good understanding to both "lists" and "distribution" in a very common usage manner. |
