Comments: | The text-glosser lawys had a problem with handling ます-stems. Early in the process they are picked up by the verb deconjugate function, and that was preempting entries which were already in that form. I now populate the glossing dictionary with composed ます-stems of all verbs, but I didn't twig that the deconjugater got in first. I have just made sure that if the ます-stem exist as an entry, the normal verb handling is disabled. I think it's now giving the result Hendrik wants. |

Comments: | Hi, is there any way to get the kind of information shown above also when using "Text Glossing"? Right now we get this, which is, of course, quite right but nevertheless misleading. ;-) Possible inflected verb or adjective: (masu stem) 便る : 頼る(P); 便る 【たよる】 (v5r,vi) to rely on; to have recourse to; to depend on; (P); ED |

Comments: | Added a second xref. Reason: Although 美ら is widely (and, as the first one of the cited websites shows, quite officially) used in Okinawa, i just heard from someone that etymologically the expression ちゅら (ちゅうら) derives from the same root as the old (obsolete?) Japanese 清ら 【きよら; けうら】, so i looked 清ら up on the web, and, yes, it is alive in Okinawa (the last cited reference gives a more detailed explanation) |
