Comments: | I have tried again this morning. Repeating search for "確保" and then I clicked examine and I got the correct result. Before making the original submission, I check several times, making sure that the dot was in the right circe, but getting the same odd result, but all seems fine now. Just one of those things, I guess. |

Comments: | Refs show both meanings, and the bias in the reading/meaning sets, but there is overlap. For 手斧 Google images mostly shows hatchets, and a few adzes. (I've known the word "adze" as long as I remember. I don't think it needs to be explained.) As for 釿, I can find no evidence of it being read ておの or ちょうな. Was it in curatorial note saying "釿 (ておの)"? If so it was more likely saying what the kanji means rather than giving its reading. 釿, which means hatchet, only has the ON readings of キン and ギン (according to the kanwas.) |

Refs: | I'm not sure. I'm doing a related translation at the moment and I may have a clearer idea when I'm finished. I'll come back to comment in another day or so. Here are some quotes from the proz.com page I quoted previously. (Did you read them already?) . In Japan, 内定means you are selected to be hired, but it is not final or official yet, but you are most likely hired for the job for sure though. I would say "Presentation of tentative employment" or "Presentation of unofficial employment presentation" . I hope this will help you. . Ceremony for commitment of employment Explanation: 内定commitment [by an employer] of employment [of a prospective employee] . It [i.e. the word "ceremony] sounds too awkward in English environment. The company invites those new recruits to get acquainted to the company environement and get to know their new employer, its leaders, its workplace etc., in which they start working soon. This can happen in non-corporate situation and organizations as well as some companies. Then it is a party, not a ceremony. . 内定式 Welcoming Party for Next FY's Recruiting Finalists . 内定式 Employment Candidate Orientation Explanation: Since they are not definite hires, they can be considered employment candidates. Also, the word "orientation" describes the process of the candidate and company getting to know each other, while leaving room for interpretation in cases where the event is very casual, such as a party. Peer comment: Agree. This term is used in my company. |
|
2. | A* 2013-11-12 11:46:54 Jim Breen <...address hidden...> | |
Refs: | KOD追加語彙 has the following long gloss: "a job offer [an offer-of-employment] ceremony; the ceremony at which 「an employer makes a candidate a job offer and the candidate confirms his or her intention to take it [employer and candidate make an undertaking that the candidate will join the company]." Daijr: "企業の新卒採用活動において,内々定を出した学生を集めて内定通知を渡すイベント。普通,10 月 1 日に実施する。内定者や社員による懇親会なども行われる。" |
|
Comments: | Those quotes above indicate it's a bit more than an orientation event, although that's part of it. How about "offer-of-employment and orientation ceremony for prospective employees"? |

Comments: | I agree it'd not necessary or useful. 疾風怒濤 gets 38k hits in the ngrams, and 嵐と衝動 gets 49. |

Comments: | all the hits i see are used to give a literal japanese meaning to the phrase "シュトゥルム・ウント・ドラング". i don't think this is an idiomatic expression unto itself. (for instance, note that the japanese wikipedia reference above does not bold the characters, it only supplies them to give a literal japanese translation of the english phrase "storm and urge") ===== as it is a clear construction of 嵐 and 衝動, i don't think this entry is necessary |

Comments: | This is apparently an established replacement for 疾風怒濤 in common parlance. :-) |
