Comments: | One note: I’ve seen a lot of restaurants with 魚魚 in the name, read as とと. (More rarely 魚々, and in other cases it’s read as うおうお or ぎょぎょ.) I’d class this as a common 義訓/wordplay (とと is a reduplicative word for fish, hence 魚魚), and don’t think we should note it in the entry (as 魚魚[iK] or [uk]), but I wanted to make a note in the comments, and mention it in case there are other opinions! |

Comments: | * Add -ie, since childish. Saw とと on 2 fish restaurants (in Tokyo). BTW, this word is not universally known; it might be a bit old-fashioned or dialectical. An employee at one store (in Tokyo) stated that とと was Kansai dialect (well, at least the boss was from Kansai), which looks incorrect (based on dicts and other use), but indicates lack of familiarity with the word. |

Comments: | FWIW, the kana version of the phrase is found further down in the same text, with an explicit reference to the speaker needing to do something about his own life. As for possible word play in the song title, I can imagine that . . . especially since I fail to see the connection between the song itself and the subject of the political catch-phrase. If that is the case, then I think we should drop the kanji version of this phrase. A dictionary isn't exactly a library of puns... |

Comments: | I think the 遷都 part is just a play on words in the song title, not part of the usual phrase. Also, I'm not sure what to make of the difference between ngrams and Google hits for どげんかせんといかん. If the ratio were reversed, that would make sense. |

Comments: | It is not easy to pick up Google hits because of the combination of "間" with previous kanji. Your [A] link gives a good example of this. The reason I am suggesting this submission is that whereas "間" is usually associated with say "時間" and the like, in this case where the above submission may be preceded by "の" the reading is likely to be "あいだ". Because the reading rarely crops up except in oral communications it would help the novice to know the reading by having this entry. In the text which I was reading, it was used as "六時間の間ずっと..."; which I am taking to be "throughout a period of 6 hours". The following entries are also shown and may be deleted if this submission is accepted. 間ずっと 【?】 (conj) while; down through; during 間ずっと側にいる 【?】 stick around long enough to 間ずっと働く 【?】 work through |
