Comments: | I'm not happy with 岩/いわ being the first kanji/reading of two quite different entries. If this term is most commonly written and read that way, then it has to be merged into the main iwa entry, despite the restriction mess. Perhaps "also written ..." is a better solution. |

Comments: | Most of my refs for 除虫菊 have it as "Dalmatian pyrethrum (Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium)". Just to confuse it more, the Daijirin entry for 除虫菊 has the gloss "シロムシヨケギク", i.e. 白虫除菊, which is in the Nichigai dictionary at http://www.weblio.jp/content/白虫除菊 as "Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium:. According to the Wikipedia article (above) the Tanacetum genus was split off from the Chrysanthemum one "several decades ago", so it is possible the information in the Japanese refs for 除虫菊 are out-of-date. Perhaps 白花虫除菊, 除虫菊 and 白虫除菊 are all the same thing. Any wise heads on plants? |
