Comments: | My impression is that this refers to photographers far more often than it does (video) camera operators. A web search appears to confirm that. Given that "cameraman" only refers to the latter, I think it might be better to have two senses (like the kokugos). |

Refs: | https://www.kanjipedia.jp/kanji/0005102300 https://kanji.jitenon.jp/kanjif/2776.html I mentioned before that meikyo displays the 「兔」 form in a note. Kanjipedia (the kanken company) and jitenon also include images of it. We have some obscure and poorly-supported kanji in headwords in several other entries. By my search, 䘣, 𬵪, 𤼵, 卄, 卐, 椂, 欙, 疍, 皻, 邓, and 鲁 are all in JMdict or JMnedict, but aren't supported by Adobe's "Source Han Sans JP" font. |
|
Comments: | Hanazono is a nice fallback font for covering these obscure characters. It's freely licensed and included in the repos of most linux distributions. https://glyphwiki.org/hanazono/ I'm planning to include some of the font data in my distribution of jmdict to ensure that users can see these characters. |

Comments: | As you suspected, what you encountered is simply 夜 + 暗い (よる + くらい). GG5 has an example sentence with it: 夜暗い道を独りで歩くのは危険だ。 No (other) dictionary records it, which is not surprising. I guess the only case for adding it is to avoid confusion with the rather obscure "夜暗". Frankly I think it is a bit too obvious to bother with, but I will add it to the glossing dictionary. I see 日本国語大辞典 also has 夜闇 for やあん, so I'll add that and merge in よやみ. |

Comments: | I am not changing the above just in case my suggestion is an error in the text. The text has a sentence which states "... が、夜暗いとき...." When I searched your site I got the above main entry. Further searching around shows Google with a fair number of hits for "夜暗い", but in many cases the search reveals that the two parts are separate. Nevertheless, the combination is still quite good in number in the general search and it comes up also in images. |

Comments: | Merging 燕麦/えんばく and 烏麦/からすむぎ is rather messy. Rene proposed a split in 2007, then backed off because Progressive overlapped them a bit. Comments: | I didn't follow the implication of "etc." in [3]. Happened to find that wikipedia has an explanation, which seemed reasonable to me. I see now this was also mentioned in 2012. sankoku has [1] and [2] (including the folding-screen example). [1] is 船などの数を数える言葉. [3], missing in a modern dictionary, is probably [obs] or [arch] I imagine. [1] is quite common. |

Comments: | * Add “half of a pair” sense * Add fish, birds, arrows, etc. * Clarify *large* boats * Have fish, birds, etc. separate from ships, as per daijr – these feel like things you can carry in a bundle; I’m guessing this is *captured* fish, birds, as koj example suggests (carrying bundle of fish at waist) etc. Saw at museum, referring to half of a folding screen (daijr mentions this usage). |

Comments: | It was in the text which I was reading. Google hits are good. Perhaps a + b, but nevertheless the novice may appreciate a main entry for the reading. Your [A] link adds confirmation of meaning. Maybe the "に" could be deleted. You have the main entry of:- ここら 《此処等; 此処ら; 此所ら》 (pn,adj-no) (uk) hereabouts; around here The following entries also exist:- ここら辺 【ここらへん】 (?) ???; RH ここら辺り 【ここらあたり】 in these parts; WI1 ここら辺りで 【ここらあたりで】 around here; WI1 What one should do about the "ここらあたり" form, I am not quite sure. It gets a fair number of Google hits, but not so many as this submission. Also it is much easier to jump to the resultant reading from your entry of "ここら" + "あたり". |
