Comments: | Hi, it could be just me, but I have little idea what a "desk pad" is. I thought at first it meant a pad containing lots of sheets of paper. Google image search seemed inconclusive (lots of pictures but I still wasn't sure of the purpose of this item), then at goo dictionary I find "desk pad" explained as "a sheet of plastic (placed under a sheet of paper when one is writing)", which clarifies things a lot. You may want to consider explaining it futher here too.. |

Comments: | Possibly useful to keep. I'm wondering about the "ではなかろう" mentioned in the above quote. GG5 has: それについて一言述べておくのも無駄ではなかろう. A few words may not be amiss in this connection. いまどき私心のない政治家なんて, 鉦や太鼓で探しても見つからないのではなかろうか. Nowadays I don't think you could find a selfless politician however 「hard you looked [desperately you hunted for one]. We probably should have an entry for "ではなかろう", at least in the glossing kana dictionary. |
