Comments: | A couple times now, I've run across dialogue in a book where one person says "まさか" and the other person replies "そのまさかだ"... an exchange like "No way!"/"Way!" or "No!"/"Yes!" or "It can't be!"/"It is!". I also found it at the three reference links. I thought of adding an entry for そのまさかだ, but I didn't know how to phrase the meaning... basically it's the opposite of whatever the other person is using まさか for, but I can't figure out how to generalize it. So if you have an idea, and you think it's worth adding an entry, you might do so. |

Daijirin has its "「透す」とも書く", etc. on a few senses. Probably we should go through and put "[通す]" restrictions on all the others. |

Comments: | Add “small Japanese houses” sense – it’s commonly understood in this sense (teacher cited it as such). I’ve not marked this “sensitive” ([sens]), as it doesn’t seem to cause much offense, though perhaps that would be prudent? There are various more detailed explanations, such as that it was originally French cage à lapins (apparently common slang for cheap, small apartments), and that it was in a report supervised by British civil servant Roy Denman, then Director of External Relations of the EC. However, I don’t think any more details are necessary. |

See http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/dicsubs/PreviousYears/2007-10/subs2007-10-26.html about 2/3 of the way down. |
Comments: | Saw on poster for temple exhibit, as 奕々たる (with furigana). In this context it seemed clearly “brilliant, glorious” – praising the artist’s work. I’ve tried to accord the differing definition in the dicts (“brilliant” and “beautiful” seem rather shared). I’ve listed these as [arch], and the koj-only definition as [obsc]; given the 〜たる, obscure kanji, and small number of web hits, I think this is reasonable. |

Comments: | Not an adverb. Used with で. Added a "real time" sense. This usage derives from people confusing オンタイム with リアルタイム, and for that reason it's considered incorrect by many. It's not in the refs but the n-grams show that it's pretty common. |
