I think, むっくり is slow and round, and so think it corresponds to original meaning of やおら." I think it's best to have them in separate senses with a note. |

Comments: | Not sure it's really two senses. I don't recall the details of when I suggested saying "see below", but I think it was in the context of putting in quite a lot of detailed support. If you have seen something in specific WWW pages that back up the submission, the URLs should really go in the Ref section. In the absence of specific references, it's probably better to leave it blank, but bear in mind that a lack of references really means someone (else) has to go looking for them. In this case I checked the Tanaka corpus (16 usages, all sense 1), the examples in GG5 (about 10 uses, all sense 1) and Eijiro (about 20, of which two support sense 2.) It's interesting that many refs have 毎晩, etc. but not その晩. I think it's a case of follow-the-leader. |

Comments: | First: with regard to Rene's comment [re: 良かう], namely: "'see below' is never a helpful reference. provide verifiable references, please. Jim and i should not have to go hunting for verification", I should state that it was Jim who suggested that I should use "See below". I am the novice here. I search your site for help. When I cannot find what I am looking for, I draw it to your attention on the basis that it may be of help to you in compiling a dictionary which serves all. Usually, I have looked first at my own dictionaries, then if I cannot find it there I look on your site. Then I may search around some more to be helpful. I assume that when my submission arrives in the laps of the experts, it is only a matter of them deciding whether or not the submission is worth including or not. If the experts are put to great work in trying to find supporting evidence, then that demonstrates the need of the expert as opposed to a novice like me. I work predominantly on the basis of logic in the process of trying to be helpful. I am not part of the team of compilers, I am just the novice who makes use of your very valuable dictionary on a regular basis. So, if I am being less than helpful, then I will not waste your time in making submissions. Returning to this submission. This appears in text often. It has many Google hits. The meaning is basically obvious, however, its inclusion would not be incompatible with entries such as the following:- 一晩(P); ひと晩 【ひとばん】 (n-adv,n-t) one evening; all night; overnight; (P) 毎晩 【まいばん】 (n-adv,n-t) every night; (P) |
