Comments: | * Add [fld=food] * Add reading おしたし Saw at supermarket (in kana, as おしたし). This is a corruption of おひたし (from 浸す). It doesn’t appear to be region-specific – saw at supermarket in Kyoto, but as per reference, it’s also found in Tokyo, so I’d conclude it’s just for general ease of pronunciation, as in ばわい. |

Comments: | チャーシュー 1403380 96.8% 叉焼 46933 3.2% 3.2% is low as a percent, but 50,000 n-grams is not rare. I think [uK] covers this? The wikipedia page is full of the kanji form https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/チャーシュー Twitter frequency can be measured in posts-per-hour (not rare) https://twitter.com/search?q=叉焼&src=typed_query&f=live I'm guessing that most Japanese adults probably have little problem reading this. I would usually interpret [rK] as a very rare kanji form with a more-common popular kanji form, or a form where kanji almost never appear. (ie. knowing the kanji form verges on useless, which seems not to be the case here). |

Comments: | Saw at supermarket (as おしたし). This is a corruption of おひたし (from 浸す). It doesn’t appear to be region-specific – saw at supermarket in Kyoto, but as per reference, it’s also found in Tokyo, so I’d conclude it’s just for general ease of pronunciation, as in ばわい. |
