In Japanese the PoS of a compound XY is determined by Y.
Thus every suffix -Y really has a PoS, which is the same as the PoS of XY.
Our way of handling this is not perfect.
If XY is a verb, then we tag -Y as [aux-v].
If XY is a an i-adjective, then we tag -Y as [aux-adj].
But if XY is a noun or adverb or something else, then I think we simply tag -Y as as [suf].

I have problems with that sentence. I've dropped it from the example set and I'm looking for an alternative for use with 借用書.

It is not very obvious to me how the example sentence, 抗体は新たな借用書をつくる, relates to any of the definitions. Perhaps 新たな借用書をつくる is an idiomatic expression deserving its own entry?

The added reading was included in a Japanese textbook for Japanese children explaining the usage of kanji. Oddly, the number of Google hits are very low. The actual text was this: "貝ざいくのうでわ" (basically a bracelet made of shells).
You may not consider the addition is worth including, but I thought that I would leave that to you rather than deciding not to submit. The main entry itself is simply a + b, but it is a good entry as far as I am concerned.

Don't know if "sponger" is regional English.  It feels uncommon to me in AmE. I think I recognize it, but would have thought it dated if in the U.S. 

"leach" is the word my intuition came up with.  But freeloading  (from the related terms) seems quite good.

I'd be inclined to at least demote "sponging", unless it seems exceptionally natural to you all.  It's secondary on the other jmdict terms.

Since the introduction of the simplified readings policy, we've only used katakana readings for kanji when the word is gairaigo. So 骨を掴む【コツをつかむ】 doesn't work in that sense.

コツをつかむ appears to be the most common form of this expression by a wide margin. We recently decided that it's okay to lead with [nokanji] forms, so I'll move it up.

There was a problem with this morning's EDICT generation, which has now been fixed.

Never mind. It's not the entry that's missing, it's the server that's messed up. A lot of other entries don't show either. Mirror servers still work, though.

Rikaichan uses JMDICT as source, but http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi doesn't show this entry for つるぎ funnily enough.
