Comments: | irritating + upsetting = exasperating "exasperating" is *extremely* common on reverso. https://context.reverso.net/translation/japanese-english/腹立たしい Also appears as the #1 gloss here: https://eow.alc.co.jp/search?q=腹立たしい Some reverso hits for "maddening", also appears in ref above, also I just like it, since 腹立つ is "to get angry (mad)" Replaced "irritating" with "infuriating". "irritating" doesn't appear in reverso, and seems like another case of understatement. infuriating feels maybe a bit strong, but does have reverso examples. Pushed it to the end. |

Comments: | I have not changed the above because you may think that a separate entry should be created for "ぱしゃぱしゃ". However, I think that it could be incorporated in the above in some way. Perhaps in the "reading" and then in the "meaning" as "(ぱしゃぱしゃ, splashing, splashing around)" "ぱしゃぱしゃ" was in the text which I was reading and the meaning of "splash, splash or splashing" would suit the context. It gets a good number of hits on Google. Your "A" link gives confirmation. Your "S" link gives the following:- 子供たちは風呂の中でぱしゃぱしゃお湯のかけっこをしたThe kids were splashing water over each other in the bathtub. |

Comments: | We have the Chinese readings of numbers separate from the Japanese entries because [lsrc=chi:] was considered sufficient reason to separate them. Technically, calling しもチャ fully [lsrc=chi:] is incorrect, and calling this [lsrc=chi/p:] is incorrect, so there is at least some reason to separate the two. Even if this were actually used, a case could be made for separating it purely for the sake of accuracy regarding etymology (which is what the people against シモチャ and カミチャ were arguing for). But in this case, it also allows us to indicate that this is obscure (which I have seen absolutely no evidence is not the case). |
|
2. | A* 2012-10-23 01:18:19 Marcus Richert <...address hidden...> | |
Comments: | I don't think this is necessary as a separate entry, and I don't think it would create confusion to include this in the main しもちゃ entry. Realistically, there are loads of entries that have a second reading that goes virtually unused (without necessarily being ok or ik). |

Comments: | Even with quotes, google just wants to show me これっぽっち results. It's possible this word is in the full version of nikk (which was up on yahoo in 2012 - kotobank only has the 精選版) - but it's possibly I misread nikk/typo'd. Maybe it's common enough to include, though. |

Comments: | Yes, it's a variant of これっぽっち. Aligning glosses. Because これ has kanji, I don't think we should merge. In response to the anonymous commenter, although this is used in negative sentences, it doesn't necessarily translate to "(not) even a bit" - see examples (of これっぽっち) above. |
