No change to the above, but I wonder if there could be a passive [etc] link to the above.

The site has the helpful entry in the combined of:-

押しつぶされる 【おしつぶされる】 be crushed; get jammed; be pressed flat against

But, a passive link would indicate the same.

This seems to be the go-to word to describe separation anxiety-caused clinginess in babies/toddlers, I hear it used like this alot. Sure, in the literal sense, yu are specifically talking about the baby "chasing after" the parent, but this isn't how it's usually phrased like in English. I think this probably ought to be a separate sense.

I think "interview" or "interviewing" could go into the first
meaning, instead of having two? "interviewing" somebody isn't
very far removed from "collecting data for an article" - esp.
as prog and the kokugo's don't split.

Google Maps list plenty of "河川敷公園" as "Kasenjiki ..." in English, but there's not a single hit for "Kasenshiki".
All pretty weak evidence, but I asked a native informant (Osakan, in her 30's) and she wasn't even aware that the word could be
pronounced "かせんしき" and couldn't recall ever hearing it pronounced like that (even on TV).
NHK apparently uses both https://www.nhk.or.jp/bunken/summary/kotoba/gimon/186.html

Jim, I note that this wasn't included in the vt/vi bulk update even though it only has one sense (both here and in meikyo). Any idea why?

  Comments:
I have fixed this one "by hand" - I have put a composite 学生 entry into the "specials" file with the がくせい gloss first.
I possibly can do this automatically, but it's not a common problem, and may be best handles on a case-by-case basis.

  Comments:
When using the function "Text Glossing" ("Text/Word Translation"), any occurrence of 学生 in the text under investigation brings up the result shown below, that is, three senses marked "arch" appear before the one marked "P". Is there a way to make the system show "P" before unmarked and both "P" and unmarked before "arch" and "obs"?

Illustrating example: 学生
Result:
学生 【がくしょう; がくそう】 (n) (1) (arch) Heian-period student of government administration; (2) (arch) Buddhist scholar; researcher at a Buddhist temple; person studying Buddhism; (3) (arch) learning; scholarship; 【がくせい】 ; (n) student (esp. a university student); (P); ED

This is a place name, but it seems rather notable.
Seen this repeatedly, most recently today (temple name) (it’s a very famous mountain, and was where Chinese Pure Land Buddhism was founded, hence the name comes up a lot).
Also, we already have 廬山会議 (which is admittedly a bit encyclopedic).

日本語の「人たらし」は最近よく耳にする言葉ですが、直訳するのは難しいですね。
「女たらし」 Lady-killer
「男たらし」 man-eater(この言葉の本来の意味は人肉を食べる野獣)
のような言葉はよく歌の歌詞などにも使われていますが、これらの「たらし」の意味と最近よく聞かれる「人たらし」で使われる印象は違いますよね。

「人たらし」という日本語は「他人をだます人」というのが本来の意味です。
ところが、最近ではご指摘のように良いニュアンスで使われている事が多いようです。
そのニュアンスを表す英語が "natural charisma"になります。

I agree with Rene. Had 乗っ取れる been formed as a compound verb with 取れる, as opposed to be a conjugation of 乗っ取る, the 国語辞典 would have picked up on it. They haven't.

  Comments:
AFAICT, this is just a standard conjugation. I don't think it's needed.
1. A* 2012-10-01 11:18:29  Francis
  Comments:
I thought that the above may have been just the potential form of the following entry:-

乗っ取る(P); 乗っとる 【のっとる】 (v5r,vt) to capture; to hijack; to commandeer; to occupy; to usurp; (P)

However, the site has a main entry for "取れる", i.e.,:-

取れる 【とれる】 (v1,vi,vt) (1) to come off; to be removed; (2) (of pain, a fever, etc.) to disappear; (3) (See 獲れる・1, 捕れる .1) to be caught; to be harvested; (4) to be interpreted (as); to be taken as; (5) (of balance, etc.) to be attained; (6) (potential form of 取る) (See 取る・1) to be obtainable; (P)

This entry refers to the potential form, but it also covers a much wider range of meanings.

The context of my reading could allow for more than just the potential so I have made this submission based upon what seems to fit the text so that your experts can take the non-potential aspects of "取れる" and confirm a more positive meaning or, of course, reject it as being nothing other than simply potential. In which case if there were a normal potential link to "取る" as well as the main entry for "取れる", this would demonstrate the more likelihood that the postential is more likely [well, maybe].

This was in the text which I was reading. Searching the site, I could find "さえ" and "すれば", but not "さえすれば".

When I went to the glossing, the following came up:-

さえすれば (exp) as long as; KD

This is not quite the same as the sum of the two parts and so I wondered about meaning. But where did the glossing come from because I search the combined dictionary.

Perhaps it should be included in the main dictionary in a way that can be searched; or perhaps the glossing needs amendment.

Since there's a どし[ok] reading in the entry for 同士, I think となりどし[ok] can be dropped here. I don't see it in my refs
